Next-generation microprocessors is not only focused to deliver extreme performance amid relatively low power consumption as well as enhanced security features, but is also build-around multi-core designs, which allow more efficient execution of capabilities like virtualization and drive a number of benefits for end-users. The Cell processor developed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba is among the first breed of consumer-oriented chips and definitely attracts a lot of interest, which AnandTech web-site has decided to address as in-depth as possible.

“Cell is just as much of a multi-core processor as the upcoming multi-core CPUs from AMD and Intel, the only difference being that Cell’s architecture doesn’t have an entirely homogeneous set of cores. The Cell architecture debuted in a configuration of 9 independent cores: one PowerPC Processing Element (PPE) and eight Synergistic Processing Elements (SPEs). The PPE and SPEs are obviously different, but all eight SPEs are identical to one another,” AnandTech’s article begins.

For some people usual devices with traditional design is not the way to go. Even modding can not satisfy their exquisite tastes. For such audience Inclosia Solutions has found a way to decorate PC hardware with real leather, chrome and wood.

“Inclosia Solutions has developed a process it calls Exo overmolding that can be used to add fabrics, leather or metal to PC enclosures. While the Exo process has been used to bring leather covers to small electronics products, such as Microsoft’s leather IntelliMouse, Inclosia is now starting to design and make laptop enclosure,” reports CNET News.com

But the products with even more fancy look will be available already this year.

“Tulip Distribution International Holding, the sales division of the resurrected Dutch PC company Tulip Computers, is showing off six prototype leather and fabric E-Go notebooks that it will bring to the market in October 2005,” claims the article.
