News around the WebTuesday, May 2, 2006Yonah Outperforms Athlon 64 FX-60. New Overclocking Results in SLI Mode 1:12 pm | Aleksey RazinYesterday we found out that a limited number of hardware enthusiasts have got access to the modified ForceWare 84.43 drivers that allow launching SLI on the chipsets without the official support for this technology. Don’t confuse these drivers with Nvidia’s official ones, they do not approve of this liberal policy yet. Our colleagues from the VR-Zone site reported that Coolaler performed comparative testing of a pair of GeForce 7600 GT graphics cards in SLI mode working in a platform featuring a dual-core AMD Athlon FX-60 processor overclocked to 3.0GHz and dual-core mobile Core Duo T2600 processor overclocked to 3.2GHz. In the latter case they used an i975X based mainboard.
The results of this comparative testing are given on the chart above. As you can see, Yonah CPU overclocked to 3.2GHz defeats AMD Athlon working at 3.0GHz by about 17% in 3DMark2001 SE, although in most subtests the performance difference between the rivals doesn’t exceed 5%. This is a rare example of the indisputable advantage of Intel’s platform in 3DMark series of tests. Conroe processors also feel quite fine in these tests, but it would still be too early to claim their indisputable victory. All Latest News |
