Personal computers have been selling for about three decades now, but only ten years ago the PCs became so user friendly that even novice users could utilize them easily. The reason for that was the introduction of the Windows 95, which featured generally similar interface to what is used now with the Windows XP.

Microsoft Windows 95, which was launched on the 24th of August, 1995, was sold in 19 million copies in the first year, sparked the explosion of the Internet, ignited tremendous growth in PC sales and basically changed the world: today business is impossible without computers and the Web. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Windows 95, BetaNews web-site has collected stories from those who where at the launch event of the operating system to experience the event’s first hand, whereas some other web-sites have posted their glances back to mark the date.
