Chatterino – The Lightweight Twitch Chat Solution
If you are a competitive gamer that also wants to stream but is confined to only using a single PC for the entire process, saving as many resources as possible so your game runs at the highest FPS is a major priority.
To do this you would want to minimize the use of your favorite web browser, find alternative ways to play your music, and even use lightweight versions of game launchers. Doing this while streaming is quite hard because you still need to have the tools to monitor your chat and stream (OBS docks also use your browser) for proper interaction.
To solve the main issue of not being able to use a browser to monitor your Twitch chat which is your main tool of interaction as a streamer you can always use a handy app called Chatterino.
What Is Chatterino?
Chatterino is a popular app that a lot of big streamers use to monitor their chats. The reason they choose to use Chatterino instead of the usual browser pop-out is because this app has a ton of features and customizations readily available.

It has native support for all the extra emote extensions (for 7TV you need to download a separate Chatterino version) like BTTV and FFZ, you can connect to multiple chats at the same time (online & offline chats), and most importantly it is a native desktop app that does not use much CPU or GPU while running.
In short, there is no reason for you to not use Chatterino since it has a lot more features than a basic Twitch chat browser pop-out and it also runs better since it is a dedicated desktop app. The app is also under constant development and will be improving continuously.
If you care about your performance in games while streaming or even if you just care about the huge bundle of extra features Chatterino offers, you should give the app a try no matter what.
I am just now learning of this Chatterino app. I have been using “Chatty” for my twitch chat needs, which works well enough for me, esp as I do most of my communicating via mic response to ppl in the chat). Will def check Chatterino out on the Googles to see how it stacks up. Thanks for the info.
Great site btw! I totes ended up here by accident while searching to see is MSMG is still the best way to strip a win image, but I am finding lots of interesting stuff 🙂
