Custom Keyboard Cables – Easy Mod for Your Keyboard!

In the custom keyboard world, there are many mods you can apply to your keyboard to make it feel and look better.

If you just want to change the aesthetics of the keyboard you can go with a keycap set swap, while if you have more time and want a more complex but functional mod, you can lube your mechanical keyboard switches.

These mods are cool because there are a lot of keycap sets you can use, and there are a lot of very good mechanical keyboard switches you can try out. But what else can you do to improve the overall feel and look of your fancy and expensive keyboard build?

A very simple but effective mod is to purchase a custom keyboard cable that will complement the look you are going for with your keyboard!

What Are Custom Keyboard Cables?

When we are talking about custom keyboard cables we are referencing coiled sleeved cables with special injected connectors that look absolutely phenomenal.

These cables are a lot more durable than regular plastic-covered ones, offer modularity with the injected connectors, and can also be purchased in a lot of different colorways and patterns which can match the theme or your custom keyboard build.

These cables also often come with an added aviator connector which allows you to quickly attach and detach different keyboards for extra ease of use.

They also come in a lot of different sizes, so even if you keep your PC 3 meters away from your desk, you will still find a suitable cable for your build.

Overall, the coiled custom cables offer a lot of positives and the only real negative side is that these can become costly depending on length, connector types, and added features like special aviator connectors.

You can indeed be perfectly happy with a very basic USB cable that powers your keyboard, but if you are going for a custom build, you might as well go all the way right?

Where Can You Buy Custom Keyboard Cables?

The custom keyboard cables are not exactly a mainstream option therefore not many regular stores will have them. Luckily there are still plenty of specialized shops that deal with the custom keyboard market that carry them.

If you live in the US you can purchase custom keyboard cables from places like Swiftcables, Noblecables, Mechcables, etc.

If you live in the UK you can find custom keyboard cables on Pexonpcs or CoolCable. If you however live in the EU you can try getting a custom keyboard cable from ClarkKable or MaxGaming.

Technically you should still be able to purchase custom keyboard cables from the UK if you live in Europe but there might be certain shipping delays or extra fees so you should inform yourself appropriately beforehand.

All of the sites mentioned above will allow you to choose or customize a keyboard cable to your liking so you should have no issues finding one that fits your build perfectly.

Final Thoughts

Even if you are extremely lazy, if you got yourself into the custom keyboard market then you should at least do the most basic mods like swapping the keycap set and purchasing a custom keyboard cable.

These mods will take very little time but will drastically change the aesthetics of your custom keyboard build.
