Are Desk PC Cases Worth It and Where to Get One?

An integral part of building your PC is selecting an appropriate enclosure for it. Buying a good case will influence the way you build your PC, and also the way your PC will operate.

Luckily for you, there are a lot of form factors you can choose from, so you can tailor your PC case to your needs. You can choose from ATX cases, micro ATX, Mini-ITX, and more custom types of cases.

If all of these options still seem boring to you then you should try looking into desk PC cases. These are very unique enclosures for your PC that will add a lot of value to your overall build.

Considering this fact, today we will talk more about PC desk cases and what to expect if you are headed in that direction.

Are Desk PC Cases Worth It?

When looking at desk PC cases the main question is whether it is even worth investing money into such a setup. When surveying the market for desk PC cases it becomes pretty obvious that some of the options are worth more than an entire build altogether.

Buying a desk PC case is not like buying your usual cases since this is a big monetary investment that needs to be calculated well.

You need to also account for the fact that some of these desk PC cases are complicated mechanisms that require a lot of assembly time. Besides the assembly time of the desk PC case itself, building your computer inside of such an enclosure is usually also pretty challenging since you are not dealing with a standard case layout.

Case fans and their intake-exhaust positions are a lot more important since you will need to make sure your components are properly cooled. In many cases, people forgo the entire air cooling process and just build water-cooled setups inside desk PC cases.

Moreover, since these desk PC cases are mostly there for display you will need to do an excellent job on cable management since literally EVERYONE that will lay eyes on your build will be able to tell if you put your cables away properly or not.

So what do we end up with? A very expensive, fragile, complicated desk PC case that will require a lot of time to assemble and build your computer inside of. There is not much in the way of portability with such a setup, and trying to find such items sometimes is harder than finding gold.

So why would you even bother with a desk PC case? The only real reason is that it looks cool. Having all of your parts on display in a nice glass container that is literally your table spells cool with capital letters for many.

This is definitely just a luxury investment and should be made only if you have a ton of money and you don’t know what to do with it. If you are a regular gamer then any normal ATX mid-tower case will 1000% be a better purchase for you.

Where to Get a Desk PC Case?

So we now know that desk PC cases are basically a huge flex, where someone just wants to show that they can spend 2000$ just on the case of their PC. Let us presume you also have more money than you know what to do with and are interested in such a case. Where do you buy one?

Usually, you can try getting a custom PC desk case, but these will take a lot more time to manufacture, will cost EVEN more, and are EVEN harder to get. An easier choice would be to buy some of the PC desk cases that are already being produced by manufacturers like Lian Li.

Examples of desk PC cases you can get: Lian Li DK-04GX, Lian Li DX-04FX, Lian Li DK-05F, Hydra Desk, Vector Desk, etc.

These would be the most affordable and available options for someone that is looking to buy a desk PC, so go ahead and do your research and get the one you think will fit your build the best!

If you however are hesitating on the purchase then you should re-evaluate your priorities and see if you really need a desk PC case for your build to be complete. Whatever you decide, make sure to not have regrets later!
