Best Silent PC Case Fans in 2024

Building a PC is all about choices beyond just choosing CPU and GPU for your build. A lot of the choices come down to aesthetics and sound profiles that you want to achieve with your build.

Specifically, when talking about sounds or rather how silent you want your build to be, you need to factor in a couple of things. You need to get a pretty decent case that doesn’t rattle, you need to set up appropriate fan curves, but most importantly you need to buy quiet computer case fans that will make sure your build is silent.

The fans are the most important component when going for a quiet build because without silent computer case fans there is no way you can successfully accomplish your goal.

These fans need to also be quite good at pushing air around because besides being silent, they need to still fulfill the role of cooling down your components.

We have looked at extensive research and reviews and we have compiled a list of the quietest pc case fans that will still do great at cooling down your components!

Silent PC Case Fans

Phanteks T30

Thicker Is Better

phanteks t30
  • 120mm PWM fans
  • 3000/2400 RPM
  • 30mm thick frame

To achieve greatness you must think out of the box and Phanteks has achieved this by making a 120mm fan with a 30mm thick frame that simply is unmatched in the current market. The T30 uses the best aerodynamic blade design, and a 30mm frame, offering an outstanding balance between cooling and silent operation under load.

The frame and blades are made out of LPC and the fan operates at 2000 RPM max which you will rarely need considering how much air this fan pushes normally (67 CFM). The overall combination of engineering and design choices for the T30 makes it the best performer in terms of cooling and conversely an amazing option if you care about acoustics.

The only thing to keep in mind if you want to buy some T30s is that the frame is 30mm so in certain situations it might not fit in your case/radiator so take the appropriate steps to measure out the necessary space for the fans.

Pros:
  • The best cooling performance currently
  • Innovative material and frame design
  • Good noise levels and acoustics during operation
Cons:
  • The thicker frame means that you need to make sure you can fit these fans in your build (30mm vs 25mm)

be quiet! Silent Wings Pro 4

The Best Standard Thickness Case Fan

be quiet silent wings pro 4
  • 120/140mm PWM fans
  • 3000/2400 RPM
  • Optimized fan blades for the highest performance on radiators and heat sinks

The newest addition to the fan market from be quiet! finally puts them back on top of their game making the Silent Wings Pro 4 one of, if not the best choice for your build right now. These are standard thickness (25mm) 120mm PWM fans that can go up to 3000 RPM if needed (140mm – 2400 RPM).

When tested these fans perform well both when used as airflow fans or radiator fans making them a jack-of-all-trades. The main thing that lands them on this list is the fact that even at 3000 RPM these fans manage to be almost inaudible which is an outstanding achievement.

In most cases, you will not run these fans at full speed, which will make them even quieter for daily use. This is due to the special fan blades, the fan frame, and their 6-pole fan motor with a very smooth operation that all comes together as an amazing overall package.

In short, if you want what currently seems to be one of the best-performing case fans on the market the Silent Wings Pro 4 will not disappoint you.

Pros:
  • Amazing performance in terms of cooling
  • Amazing performance in terms of dB and acoustics
  • Can be used for both airflow and radiators
Cons:
  • These will set you back 30$ a piece which is too much for some customers

Noctua NF-A12x25

Continuous Noctua Excellence

noctua nf-a12x25
  • 120 mm PWM fan
  • 2000 RPM
  • 34.9 dBA @ 1250 RPM

Let us not pretend we didn’t know this will happen, because if you have spent at least 5 minutes researching this specific topic you have probably heard of Noctua fans all over the place.

Noctua is known for high-quality ultra-silent PC case fans and the NF-A12X25 is simply the quietest and moves the most air through your PC case.

This is a 120mm PWM fan that spins at max 2000 RPM while generating a measly 34.9 dBA @ 1250 RPM. Besides the premium Noctua motor, this fan has a slew of other additional features that help it be as quiet and as effective as it is.

Noctua has included advanced acoustic optimization in this fan and uses liquid-crystal polymer and tight tip clearance of only 0.5 mm to achieve as little noise as possible.

The only real downside of such a state-of-the-art product is of course its price that can range from 30 to 40$ for a single fan.

Pros:
  • Silent operation
  • Very capable at pushing air still
  • Specifically designed for this task
Cons:
  • Pricy
  • Can be hard to get if out of stock

Arctic P12/P12 Silent PWM

Best Bang for Buck Silent Computer Case Fans

arctic p12 silent pwm
  • 120 mm PWM fan
  • 1800 RPM
  • 35.2 dBA @ 1250 RPM

Do not think that simply because the expensive Noctua fan is considered the best, no other fan comes close to its performance. In fact, the Arctic P12 series of fans come so close that Noctua should start re-evaluating their prices for their case fans.

The P12 series of fans came out of nowhere bringing extremely quiet operation and very good airflow for an extremely good price (about 10$ for a fan under normal circumstances). This is insanely good considering that these fans are literally almost as good as the Noctua but cost so little by comparison.

The Arctic P12 fans are 120mm PWM fast that use Japanese dual-bearing motors which operate in dead silence. These motors use the newest generation magnet ring which is a lot more efficient than its predecessors.

This allows the fan to operate for longer meaning an increased lifespan overall. The P12 achieves a max 1800 RPM and records 35.2 dBA @ 1250 RMP which is comparable to the Noctua fans.

These fans are consistently close in all thermal and audio testing so the final verdict really should be between the prices you can afford and the sound profile of the fans (they do sound slightly different albeit being almost inaudible).

Pros:
  • A LOT cheaper than the Noctua fans
  • Very good at cooling even though these are one of the best silent PC case fans
  • Clean aesthetic using the black color unlike the somewhat clumsy brown Noctua fans
Cons:
  • There are certain RPM noises where the fans tend to produce extra noise for some reason (for example at 1000 RPM), but this can be easily avoided by simply setting the fan speed outside of that range.

Nidec Servo GentleTyphoon

The Underdog Silent Computer Case Fan

nidec servo gentletyphoon
  • 120 mm PWM fan
  • 2150 RPM
  • 35.6 dBA @ 1250 RPM
CHECK PRICES

We can state with a certain degree of certainty that most people have not even heard of this PC case fan manufacturer until researching the silent PC case fan market. Both Noctua and Arctic are pretty well known compared to Nidec, but this does not mean that this fan is somehow bad.

Although Nidec is not as premium as Noctua and not as cheap as Arctic offerings these fans still provide one of the best cooling for how silent they are. The fan design and build are made specifically to push high quantities of air while producing as little noise as possible.

Their newly designed motors use a special double vibration reduction structure that helps the fan operate in dead silence. The Nidec Gentle Typhoon achieves a max of 2150 RPM and produces 35.6 dBA @ 1250 RPM which is extremely good. You can get these fans for 15-20$ depending on the market which is cheaper than Noctua’s offerings.

Pros:
  • Very good at cooling your components
  • Very close to how silent the Noctua and Arctic is
  • Very similar in appearance to the Noctua NF-A12X25
Cons:
  • Harder to get your hands on
  • More money for fans that perform about the same as the P12s
