The layout on the keypads can provide you with a lot of advantages and features.

Features that razer Orbweaver and Tartarus share

The keys both on the Razer Orbweaver and the Razer Tartarus v2 are fully customizable in the Razer Synapse software.

Both keypads have almost the same ergonomic design that provides amazing comfort during long sessions. And your fingers can reach at least 20 of the programmable keys.

Each key of the keypads can be assigned macros of unlimited length, and you can assign hyper-shift to any key simply by holding it down. Also, you can give two functions to every key.

And lastly, both the Tartarus and Orbweaver feature full RGB lighting, which can be configured.

Differences

One of the biggest differences between the razer Orbweaver vs. Tartarus v2 is in the keys.

The Orbweaver features the Chroma mechanical keys, with 50 g of actuation force. The keys have a great feel, but they are clicky. While the Tartarus V2 features the Mecha-Mechanical keys, they have a good tactical feel also, but they are not fully mechanical, and to some, that can be a drawback.

When it comes to the programmable keys, the Tartarus V2 has 32 and the Orbweaver 30. The difference in the keys number is due to the added scroll wheel on the Tartarus V2. That key takes the place of one standard key, and you can set three functions: scroll down, scroll up, and press.

Another difference is in the thumb pads. With the Tartarus V2, you get two options. It features a joystick cap for the thumb.

By removing it, you can expose a d-pad, similar to in the console controllers. And the Orbweaver features a hat button, which is a less precise option than the joystick. However, you can program it with many functions that work for you, so you don’t miss-click.

Shape and Adjustments

A big drawback is that both of these keypads are only for your left hand. So they are not compatible with people that use their mice with a left hand.

As for the adjustment, on the Orbweaver Chroma, you can tilt the palm rest’s angle, slide wrist rest back and forward, and slide the thumb buttons further or closer. On the other hand, with Tartarus, you get only one level of adjustment. You can only pull off the hand rest and reposition it, to adjust to longer or shorter hands.

Value

Both models provide you with a warranty of two years, which is amazing because many other peripherals usually come with a 1-year warranty.

However, the Tartarus V2 comes at a lower price than the Orbweaver. So for almost the same features, the keypad with the better value is the Tartarus V2.

Conclusion

The Tartarus V2 Mecha-Mechanical keys are amazing, the scroll wheel is also very hopeful, and the thumb pad provides you with more options. And all that topped off with a lower price tag makes this gaming pad a better choice for many people. However, if you want comfort and don’t mind paying a bit more, the Orbweaver can be a great choice also, because it is far more adjustable.

Both of these keypads have their place among the best gaming keypads. However, if they don’t meet your requirements, you can always check our article about gaming keypads and find the best that will work for you.
